Since ancient times, sales funnels have been a part of traditional marketing and business. However lately it seems to me that the subject of funnels being used in Internet business is appearing everywhere on the web.
It is clear that people want to know more about this concept and the ways they can apply it in their online businesses marketing efforts. If you would like to learn more about the sales funnel to help you with efficient Internet marketing, I encourage you to continue reading.
What is the Sales Funnel?
A marketing funnel isn't an actual funnel. The reason for using the word "funnel" to describe this concept of marketing is to aid in visualizing and explaining a sales process from the beginning to the end. It is a wide opening for customers who are called "Unqualified Prospects" at the top, and a narrower opening for sales conversion at the bottom. It's a good comparability.

These are what we call "unqualified prospects" at the top or at the beginning of the funnel. These are the people who might need your services or products, but have not been approached by you prior to. After a few sales and offers, you will have gotten people who have purchased your product or service.
The effectiveness of a lead generation funnel comes from its ability to allows you to track potential prospects' actions during different stages of the lengthy sales process. It is possible to predict the potential number of customers through the sales funnel by knowing the numbers of prospects who are qualified throughout the process.
A sales funnel will allow you to determine exactly how and where your sales process is failing or succeeding, or if your campaign isn't getting enough potential customers at any point in the process. This will allow you to decide where you should concentrate your efforts and to keep sales at a required level, as well as, to fulfill marketing goals. It helps track and control the sales process of customers.
The Sales Funnel Top Front - End
The top of your sales funnel is going to be the most active area of your process and requires the most constant testing. There is no limit to your imagination or resources in front-end strategies.
The primary goal of the front- end is to draw potential customers in and turn them into buyers further down the sales funnel.
If a potential customer opts in or subscribes to the product or service you provide, they are "qualified". This is where the potential customer, also known as an "Unqualified Prospect", becomes a qualified lead. They have taken a step that shows that they may be interested in the product or service you offer.
For your front-end to be efficient, you need to bring targeted traffic to your site blog, website, or squeeze pages. PPC adverts articles, banners, article marketing, PPC advertisements, social media (Google+ Twitter Facebook YouTube), YouTube banners, blog posts, forum posting and other resources are among the most effective methods and sources.
You'll find that there are a variety of tools available to "qualify" the "Unqualified Prospect". A squeeze page is one of the most efficient ways to "qualify" the prospects who are not qualified. It lets you provide something valuable that is related to your products or service, which people can receive at no cost or at a greatly reduced price in exchange for their email address. The products offered vary from video and newsletters to e-mail courses, eBooks, related reports and more.
It is clear that the front-end is where customers are drawn to your sales funnel. What about the back-end?
The Bottom of the Funnel or The Back-End
The back-end (or bottom) of the sales channel is where the bulk of sales and profits occur. It is also where you'll find your more expensive products. These products would all be relevant to the same market, however they are delivered in different formats, like video, audio and live interaction.
The primary difference between the front-end and the back-end is the type of client as well as the cost of the product or services being offered.
Although it's true that a very small percentage of people will be able to enter your front-end, only 1-2% will actually end up in your back-end. This is because a select few people will spend a larger amount of funds.
While front-end services and products might be cheaper than $100, back-end services and products are usually priced at the range of hundreds to even thousands. The bottom or back-end of the sales funnel is your main source of income for an Internet company. This is also the most predictable area of this selling process.
Like I said, the sales funnel may be as simple or as complex as your imagination or resources permit.
